New Enhancements

A summary of the key enhancements is provided below. Please review the Release Notes for more details.
 
  • Retaining column settings for job queues
    All Scan Jobs queues (current and history) now retain the sort, filter and size column settings until the grid is reset. As a result, users are able to locate the same type of scan jobs without reapplying the sort or filter criteria.
     
  • Batch creation of cover pages
    Cover pages can now be uploaded to CCH Scan Workstation in .txt format, which significantly reduces the time it takes to create cover pages each year.
     
  • Sent to Document tracking feature
    When the Send to Document feature is initiated by a user at any time during the process, an icon providing you with information is retained on the server for tracking purposes in the History queue. This feature does not apply to files sent to CCH Documents through a routing slip.
     
  • Error files in CCH Scan Workstation
    Files that have errored out can now be deleted through CCH Scan Workstation rather than going to CCH Scan Administrator. Therefore, staff members are able to clear these jobs from the server immediately without having to involve firm IT administrators.
     
  • Error files in the Archive folder
    Files that have errored out can now be easily identified in the Archive folder because the have "Errored_" as a prefix to the file name. This allows for quick identification if additional support is required.
     
  • Scanned pages
    Pages scanned in more than 600 dpi are no longer resized. All pages now retain properties of the original scan, which leads to better handling and recognition of these documents.
     
  • Copy file idle time and zero-byte file
    In previous versions, these settings could only be adjusted by changing the configuration files. Firms can now make adjustments via the settings on the General Settings tab of CCH Scan Administrator
     
  • PDFlyer sticky notes
    The default text on the Sticky Note feature can now be removed by double-clicking it. Users no longer have to manually remove the default text, making it easier and quicker to enter a note.
     
  • PDFlyer Unlicense function in License Server
    Upload a .txt file with a list of computer names to unlicense computers for PDFlyer in a batch, and to return licenses to the server for new installations.
     
  • Adobe® Acrobat® Support
    PDFlyer v.15.0 will install for use with Adobe Acrobat XI, Adobe Acrobat DC for both the Continuous and Classic tracking. Starting with the December 2019 release, PDFlyer will no longer be compatible with Adobe Acrobat XI.
     
  • Form classification and extraction
    The CCH Scan catalog is updated on a regular basis between January and early April to incorporate new and modified slip types.
    To ensure that you get the best results, install the catalog updates that will be released throughout tax season. Note that the automated update functionality is the only means of updating the catalog.
    Your firm can easily and securely contribute to these catalog updates to incorporate the specific slip variations you are working with:
     
    • Thanks to the Upload and Encrypted e-mail features in the CCH Scan validation tool, firms submitted thousands of slips to the Wolters Kluwer Development team.
       
    • If you see a poorly classified or extracted slip image in the CCH Scan validation tool, simply click the e-mail icon. The attached files are fully encrypted for secure transmission. New form variations will be analyzed and included in the next update of the CCH Scan catalog.
       
    • Files are handled with the highest confidentiality standards as per Wolters Kluwer privacy policy.

Validate Your Scanner Settings for Optimal Results

The quality of scanned images is critical to achieve optimal extraction results with AutoFlow Technology. Having a good scanner that is configured properly will generate greater extraction accuracy. Regular scanner maintenance is also a key factor for success. To determine if the output of your scanner is suitable for AutoFlow Technology, please scan the sample slips sent to your firm and submit the resulting TIF file by e-mail to csupport@wolterskluwer.com. Our Technical Support team will analyze your file and reply to you to confirm whether the quality of the scanner output will be likely to produce good data extraction results.


CCH Scan Training

Please note that attending some Training Webinars is mandatory for new CCH Scan customers.
It is essential that members of your staff involved in tax preparation understand the procedures and changes in workflow that result from the adoption of a paperless tax preparation process. Mandatory training sessions ensure that your firm starts to experience the benefits offered by CCH Scan immediately. Our CCH Scan coordinator will plan your attendance. For firms renewing CCH Scan this year, we are pleased to offer an optional refresher Webinar, which highlights enhancements to the program including AutoFlow Technology.
