Review your Documentation

Before you install this latest release, please review the documentation thoroughly, including the Release Notes, available for download. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Support Centre at 1-800-268-4522 or send an e-mail to csupport@wolterskluwer.com.

New Enhancements

A summary of the key enhancements is provided below. Please review the Release Notes for more details.

  • Batch Operations
Batch Operations allow you to select multiple jobs to perform the Mark as Validated or Delete operations on a batch of files. From CCH Scan Administrator or CCH Scan Workstation, select File > Batch Operations to launch this process.

  • Delete Files
This feature is only available from CCH Scan Administrator. Jobs with a “Ready for validation (X pages validated)” status can now be deleted. Behind the scenes, the validation is skipped, and the resulting files are deleted.

  • Jobs Processed Using CCH Document Routing Slips
The Document Routing Slips of CCH Documents have been modified to now include the Entity ID and Entity Name fields, in addition to the Document ID field, thus enabling you to identify jobs more easily in CCH Scan queues.

  • CCH Scan Workstation and Major Version Updates
CCH Scan Workstation now checks its version against CCH Scan Administrator's version to make sure that the workstation is up-to-date. A message displays when they are not on the same version.
Note: This feature will be available when CCH Scan Workstation v.16 is installed for future CCH Scan releases.

  • Adobe® Acrobat® Support
Support of PDFlyer v.16 for use with Adobe Acrobat XI is discontinued. However, Adobe Acrobat DC for both the Continuous and Classic tracks continue being supported.

  • Form classification and extraction
The CCH Scan catalog is updated on a regular basis between January and early April to incorporate new and modified slip types.
To ensure that you get the best results, install the catalog updates that will be released throughout tax season. Note that the automated update functionality is the only means of updating the catalog.
Your firm can easily and securely contribute to these catalog updates to incorporate the specific slip variations you are working with:

    • Thanks to the Upload and Encrypted e-mail features in the CCH Scan validation tool, firms submitted thousands of slips to the Wolters Kluwer Development team.

    • If you see a poorly classified or extracted slip image in the CCH Scan validation tool, simply click the e-mail icon. The attached files are fully encrypted for secure transmission. New form variations will be analyzed and included in the next update of the CCH Scan catalog.

    • Files are handled with the highest confidentiality standards as per Wolters Kluwer privacy policy.

End of support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

As we have been announcing since November 2018 in several documents (Installation Procedures and texts on the Web sites), as well as in the e-mails sent on September 3 and December 3, 2019, our software applications ended support of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 in November 2019.

For more information, consult our Knowledge Base article End of support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

Validate Your Scanner Settings for Optimal Results

The quality of scanned images is critical to achieve optimal extraction results with AutoFlow Technology. Having a good scanner that is configured properly will generate greater extraction accuracy. Regular scanner maintenance is also a key factor for success. To determine if the output of your scanner is suitable for AutoFlow Technology, please scan the sample slips sent to your firm and submit the resulting TIF file by e-mail to csupport@wolterskluwer.com. Our Technical Support team will analyze your file and reply to you to confirm whether the quality of the scanner output will be likely to produce good data extraction results.

CCH Scan Training

Please note that attending some Training Webinars is mandatory for new CCH Scan customers.
It is essential that members of your staff involved in tax preparation understand the procedures and changes in workflow that result from the adoption of a paperless tax preparation process. Mandatory training sessions ensure that your firm starts to experience the benefits offered by CCH Scan immediately. Our CCH Scan coordinator will plan your attendance. For firms renewing CCH Scan this year, we are pleased to offer an optional refresher Webinar, which highlights enhancements to the program including AutoFlow Technology.

The CCH Scan product and related documentation are available by download only. Only the batch of sample slips used to validate your scanner settings will be mailed to you. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Support Centre at 1-800-268-4522.
